Ferrari’s technical director, Enrico Cardile, might be on his way to Aston Martin, according to sources. The British team has reportedly approached Cardile in a bid to bolster their technical division under the leadership of team owner Lawrence Stroll.

Cardile’s current role at Ferrari has him overseeing the chassis and aerodynamics department, and he’s been a crucial figure in the development of the team’s recent cars since switching from the Gran Turismo program to the F1 team in 2016. Most recently, his contributions were evident in the success of the Ferrari SF-24, with Charles Leclerc clinching a victory at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Aston Martin’s ambitions have been clear, with Stroll even attempting to lure Red Bull’s outgoing chief technical officer, Adrian Newey. However, Newey appears to be considering a potential move to Ferrari, which might create an opening for Cardile if he feels his role could be overshadowed.

Adrian Newey, known for his impactful work in F1, would likely only serve as a consultant for Ferrari, focusing on their car for 2026. His high profile could potentially diminish the recognition of the current team members who have propelled Ferrari’s recent achievements.

Team principal Fred Vasseur of Ferrari has emphasized the importance of maintaining stability within the team, hinting that the speculation around Newey’s involvement should not distract from their current trajectory. Vasseur expressed his contentment with the team’s progress and avoided giving direct comments on Newey.

Vasseur stated, ‘I speak to everybody in the paddock when we meet, because we are well educated! On this point, I don’t want to make any comment because every single answer could be interpreted. The most important [thing] is the stability of the team. As I said before, we are doing a good job. We are going in the right direction. The most important for me is the stability of the group much more than individuals. I am really pleased with the current situation.’

As Aston Martin continues its quest to enhance its technical capabilities, the potential addition of Enrico Cardile could play a significant role in their journey to become a winning team. Meanwhile, Ferrari remains focused on keeping their current team stable and on the path to further successes.
