Guenther Steiner has cast doubt on Kevin Magnussen’s future with Haas, openly questioning if he is the best option for next season. Steiner admits, “I love Kevin… what he is doing lately against Hulkenberg is not impressive to say the least.” Magnussen’s struggle against his teammate Nico Hulkenberg has led Steiner to consider other options, especially since Magnussen has scored more penalty points than championship points this season.
Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo’s performance is also under scrutiny. With VCARB yet to decide if his results warrant a second season, or a potential promotion to Red Bull, the pressure is on. Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull is simultaneously in question, adding another layer of complexity to the team’s decision-making.
Sergio Perez, known as the ‘Honey Badger,’ is also facing uncertainty. Red Bull has not yet decided whether to open his seat for another driver, making his future with the team anything but secure. Steiner points out, “We need to be open about that… there’s quite a few now if you look in there.”
Valtteri Bottas finds himself in a similar situation at Sauber/Audi. The Finnish driver’s future is under debate, largely because the car’s performance makes it difficult to judge his true capability. Steiner notes, “Bottas is difficult to say something about because the car is not really good so we don’t really know where he is.”
As for Haas, Steiner is out of the loop regarding the team’s future plans amidst driver rumors and potential links with Andretti or Toyota. “I couldn’t answer it,” he said. “I was there a long time and I still don’t know what he wants to do. I didn’t know last year, I didn’t know two years ago and I don’t know what he thinks short or long term.”
The 2025 F1 grid is shaping up to be quite a spectacle with many drivers’ futures hanging in the balance.
