Nico Hulkenberg is gearing up to race for Audi in 2026 and insists he’s made the right choice. Despite the team not scoring a single point this season, he stands by his decision.

Audi, which has taken over the Sauber team, has faced significant management shake-ups, including removing Andrea Stella and Oliver Hoffmann. They’ve brought in Mattia Binotto as chief operational officer and Jonathan Wheatley from Red Bull as the new team principal.

The upheaval hasn’t deterred Hulkenberg, who believes Audi’s investment and the upcoming 2026 rule change offer a fantastic opportunity. “It’s really like a reset with the resources, the manpower, the budget and the power of the brand,” Hulkenberg said.

Though Audi missed signing Carlos Sainz, who joined Williams, Hulkenberg is confident in his team’s commitment and competitive strategy. Pundits speculated that Sainz’s decision to choose Williams was a sign of internal turmoil at Audi. However, Hulkenberg is unfazed.

“I don’t see an opportunity anywhere in the top four teams for me. My mind and my conscious are very calm and clear,” Hulkenberg told Sky F1. He is adamant that he’s focused on this exciting project.

When questioned about Audi’s lackluster performance, Hulkenberg acknowledged that it would be a tough journey ahead but emphasized the high ambitions and pressure associated with racing for a manufacturer.

Hulkenberg also brushed off stats about his own career, highlighting that Audi’s decision to commit to him speaks volumes. “Stats, they say something, but they don’t always give you the full truth,” he remarked.

Hulkenberg is ready for the challenge and sees a bright future with Audi F1.
