Lewis Hamilton recently shared some exciting details about the upcoming Brad Pitt F1 movie that’s set to offer something quite unique for racing film enthusiasts.

According to Hamilton, the film will show cars racing at ‘real-time, real speed,’ a feature not commonly seen in racing movies. Hamilton, a seven-time World Champion, has been consulting on the film to ensure its authenticity. Filming took place at Silverstone and the Hungaroring last season, featuring Pitt and co-star Damson Idris as part of the fictional ‘APXGP’ team.

Pitt plays a driver named ‘Sonny Hayes,’ who comes out of retirement to partner with an up-and-coming talent, ‘Joshua Pearce,’ played by Idris. Hamilton’s mission on set was to call out anything that didn’t feel true to the real world of Formula 1. ‘Racing movies, I feel like it’s very, very hard to capture them,’ Hamilton explained during an appearance on the YouTube series Hot Ones.

Hamilton elaborated on the challenges of capturing the speed and intensity of racing. Traditional methods involve following a truck with a camera, making it hard to capture the actual speed. ‘You can’t have a truck following filming us at 200 miles an hour, so it’s all kind of faked at a slower speed and they speed it up. But this is all real-time, real speed,’ he said.

He also noted the advancements in technology that have made this possible. ‘If you go back to like Steve McQueen, for example, back then they would have men laying on the front of the car with the camera, or have a big camera on top of the helmet. Now we’ve got all this amazing new technology. So I feel like Joe [Joseph Kosinski, director], honestly, I think he’s going to blow people away.’

While a release date for the film hasn’t been announced yet, the buzz around its innovative approach to capturing real racing footage is already generating excitement. This film promises to bring a level of authenticity that fans have been craving.

With real-time, real-speed racing scenes and Hamilton’s dedication to authenticity, the upcoming Brad Pitt F1 movie is set to be a groundbreaking addition to the genre.
