Liam Lawson didn’t waste time expressing his determination after returning to Racing Bulls following a brief stint with Red Bull.

After just two races with Red Bull, New Zealand’s Liam Lawson found himself back with Racing Bulls, eager to leave the past behind and focus on the future. Lawson’s recent demotion was unexpected, but the driver seemed unfazed, emphasizing his readiness to move forward in the racing season. “It’s nice to get it done and just move forward,” he stated, highlighting his resolve to make the most of his return.

Despite starting his comeback race from a P14 position and finishing P17 in Suzuka, Lawson found encouragement in his team-mate Isack Hadjar’s performance, who managed to score some points. “It would have been very tough from where we started,” Lawson admitted regarding his own potential to score points. However, he remained optimistic, noting, “Isack scored points today, which is great for him. So we did a really good job this weekend.”

Lawson acknowledged the challenges faced in qualifying, where the pace did not align as hoped. Nevertheless, he found positives in the race weekend, stating, “I think from our side as well, there’s been good things. Pace has been good, unfortunately, not right when it needed to be in quali. But I think overall, there’s still things to take from it.” His comfort with the car grew over the weekend, further fueling his optimism for future races.

Looking ahead, Lawson remains determined as he takes on new tracks. Reflecting on the various conditions and adjustments required for each track, he mentioned, “FP2 obviously, was strong for us, and I think Q1 for us was quite good as well. But all these cars have a small window, maybe this one’s a bit bigger.” His focus now shifts to upcoming races, where he’s keen to continue improving and capitalizing on his team’s potential.

As Liam Lawson resumes his journey with Racing Bulls, his focus is set firmly on progression and adaptability, leaving past disappointments in the rearview mirror. His determination to harness the team’s capabilities and his growing comfort with the car signal a promising outlook for the races ahead.
