In an interview with Sky F1, Newey admitted to enjoying some time off, recounting a delightful trip around the South Coast with his wife Amanda and their dogs in an old Aston Martin DB6. “I don’t know what I want to do,” he confessed, indicating that he hopes to make a decision by winter.
Rumors suggest that Newey’s future might be linked to Aston Martin, especially after he was spotted driving an Aston Martin DB6 on vacation. Reports also hint at a meeting between Newey and Aston Martin’s team owner, Lawrence Stroll, at the Silverstone base. This speculation positions Aston Martin as a strong contender, although Ferrari was initially thought to be the next stop in Newey’s illustrious career.
The possibility of Newey joining Aston Martin has stirred excitement within the team. Team boss Mike Krack expressed being “flattered” by the rumors connecting Newey with Aston Martin, especially alongside Ferrari. Lawrence’s son, Lance Stroll, remarked on the potential addition, saying, “He’s the GOAT. I mean, he’s got more championships than anyone in this paddock, so he’s someone that everyone would love to have in their team colors.”
