Carlos Sainz is being replaced by Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari for F1 2025, sparking some interesting conversations.
- Sainz boldly claims Hamilton is not a better driver than him.
- Reflecting on his replacement, Sainz acknowledges Hamilton’s status as one of the best in the sport.
- Sainz is focusing on making the most of his remaining time at Ferrari.
- His future plans in Formula 1 remain uncertain.
Carlos Sainz has found himself at the center of attention as Lewis Hamilton prepares to take over his seat at Ferrari next season. However, Sainz confidently stated that he does not believe Hamilton is a better driver than him. This level of self-assurance, he noted, is common among Formula 1 drivers. Any driver asked the same question would likely give a similar answer.
Despite his confidence, Sainz did recognize the opportunity Ferrari has in signing a seven-time World Champion. He disclosed, “Having said that, obviously I understand Ferrari’s decision, the opportunity to sign a seven-time World Champion and what that can bring and attract to a team.”
The news of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was quite a shocker when it broke in February. While Sainz has put up impressive performances, it’s a tough pill to swallow being replaced by someone with as much acclaim as Hamilton. However, he accepts this outcome with grace. “At the end of the day, it’s not that you are being replaced by any other driver, but you are being replaced by the best driver in the history of the sport, or one of the best drivers in the history of the sport. And in the end, if I have to be replaced by one of them, that’s the one.”
Meanwhile, Sainz is focused on maximizing his performance for the remainder of the season. He’s eager to add as many podium finishes as possible before his departure. He explained, “At the moment I have to take advantage of the opportunity to have a car this year that allows me to do some podiums… because I don’t know if I will have them next year.”
With his future still up in the air, Sainz remains committed to his craft and the sport. He is considering all potential options for the 2025 season and beyond. His goal is to stay competitive and continue proving himself on the track.
Carlos Sainz is embracing the present while looking ahead with determination, proving that in F1, confidence and resilience go hand in hand.
