Carlos Sainz highlights McLaren’s impressive performance.

  • McLaren has outscored key rivals in recent races.
  • Lando Norris achieves significant milestones for McLaren.
  • Ferrari struggles against top teams despite upgrades.
  • Sainz remains optimistic about Ferrari’s future improvements.

Carlos Sainz has been quite vocal about McLaren’s recent performance, labeling their car as the ‘most consistent’ in Formula 1 right now. According to Sainz, the McLaren MCL38 is ‘quick everywhere,’ making it a formidable competitor on the track.

McLaren’s recent form is noteworthy. They have outscored all their rivals, including Red Bull, in the Constructors’ Championship over the last four races. Despite Max Verstappen’s continued dominance in the Drivers’ standings, McLaren’s surge is significant.

The team’s turnaround can be traced back to last year’s Austrian Grand Prix, where major changes to their design philosophy propelled them from lower midfield runners to podium contenders. Continuous upgrades have only solidified their position at the front of the field.

Lando Norris has been a key player in McLaren’s success. He earned his first Grand Prix victory in Miami and took pole position in Spain, underscoring McLaren’s competitiveness across different tracks.

Ferrari, on the other hand, has faced a more challenging season. Despite bringing an upgrade package to Barcelona, they found themselves trailing Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull. The competition at the top was extremely tight, but Ferrari couldn’t keep up.

Sainz expressed that while Ferrari has made efforts to improve, other teams seem to be advancing further with their developments. However, he remains hopeful, suggesting that Ferrari could be more competitive in Austria.

In Sainz’s words, ‘I think, honestly, the most consistent car right now is the McLaren. They’re quick in low speed, they’re flat in Turn 9, they were the fastest into [Turn] 5…so I just don’t see McLaren having any weakness right now.’

Carlos Sainz believes McLaren is the team to watch, but remains hopeful about Ferrari’s prospects in upcoming races.
