Carlos Sainz Jr. is not only speeding on the tracks as a Williams driver, but he’s also broadening his horizons by embracing new roles. Recently, he was announced as the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association chairman, a position that allows him to advocate for driver safety and mutual respect among teams and racing officials.
Now, Sainz has taken another significant step in his career by becoming the official ambassador for the Madring, a new hybrid street circuit scheduled to be part of the F1 calendar in 2026. This circuit will be located in Madrid, which happens to be Sainz’s hometown. His appointment was confirmed during a recent ceremony where the circuit’s groundbreaking was celebrated.
In his social media update, he shared his excitement, stating, ‘As a Madrileño, seeing @madring_oficial begin construction today feels truly special. Proud to be an ambassador of this amazing project. ‘See you in 2026!’ This role allows Sainz to bring his extensive F1 experience into the development of the Madring, leveraging his intimate connection with Madrid to help shape the circuit into a formidable F1 destination.
The Madring circuit is designed to be a 5.4-kilometer track featuring 22 turns, including a steeply banked corner reminiscent of the famous Zandvoort circuit. As a hybrid track, it combines public roads with sections built specifically for the race, winding through strategic landmarks such as the Real Madrid training complex, historic Spanish Civil War forts, and the vibrant Valdebebas festival grounds.
By 2027, Madrid will proudly host the sole Spanish Grand Prix, taking over from Barcelona. This move promises to bring a fresh and exhilarating racing experience to fans, with Madring’s second-longest straight adding to the excitement.
Carlos Sainz’s new ambassador role highlights his dedication to motorsport and pride in his Spanish roots.
