Excitement is building as Jack Doohan is on the brink of clinching a race deal with Alpine F1 for 2025.
Jack Doohan, currently a reserve driver for the Alpine F1 team, is set to race alongside Pierre Gasly next year. Sources reveal that a final contract is almost ready for signing and could be announced before the summer break.
This opportunity emerged after Carlos Sainz turned down Alpine and chose to join Williams instead. This left Alpine searching for options, and Doohan, the son of five-time motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan, became the frontrunner.
Doohan’s potential promotion to a full-time race seat is a reward for his consistent performance and dedication. He’s been part of the Alpine young driver program since 2022, having previously been with Red Bull’s junior team.
Although new team advisor Flavio Briatore initially pushed for Sainz, Doohan’s impressive F1 test runs at iconic tracks like Monza, Hungaroring, and Spa kept him in the spotlight.
New team principal Oliver Oakes, who has worked with Doohan at Hitech, is also supporting his promotion. This could be the validation Doohan seeks for switching to Alpine’s young driver program in 2022.
In addition to participating in six FP1 sessions in places like Mexico and Silverstone, Doohan has been testing an A524 car at Spa this week, replacing Esteban Ocon for a Pirelli tire test.
If confirmed, Doohan will be one of three rookies on the F1 grid next year, along with Haas’s Oliver Bearman and Mercedes’s Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Doohan’s move to Alpine F1 could mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his racing career, and fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement.
