Lewis Hamilton has made it clear—he has no regrets about his upcoming move to Ferrari for the F1 2025 season.
Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, announced earlier this year his decision to join Ferrari, ending his longstanding ties with Mercedes. Despite Mercedes showing a strong comeback with recent upgrades to their W15 car, Hamilton insists he has no second thoughts about his decision.
Since joining Mercedes in 2013, Hamilton has won six of his seven world titles with the team. While he had a rough start in the 2024 season, with finishes no higher than seventh in the initial races, recent improvements led to a podium finish in Spain. This resurgence, however, hasn’t swayed his determination to switch teams.
Ferrari, on the other hand, had a promising start with victories in Australia and Monaco but recently fell behind in performance. Yet, Hamilton is unfazed by Ferrari’s struggles. Speaking to the media, he expressed his confidence in Ferrari’s progress, stating that the Scuderia is doing a ‘great job’ despite a few challenging races.
When questioned about his move to Ferrari amidst Mercedes’ improved form, Hamilton firmly stated he has no ‘second thoughts.’ He remains a loyal supporter of Mercedes, acknowledging the pivotal role the team has played throughout his career. Nevertheless, he is excited about joining Ferrari and believes they are moving in the right direction.
Recently, the topic of an all-black livery for Ferrari was addressed by Hamilton, following his history with Mercedes’ dark color scheme. He mentioned that he would not advocate for such changes at Ferrari right away, focusing instead on philanthropic initiatives with Ferrari’s president John Elkann.
Despite not securing a race win since 2021, Hamilton is undeterred. He reminisces about overcoming challenges in his career and sees this new chapter with Ferrari as an exciting opportunity. His comments reflect a driver who knows his path and remains committed, regardless of the chatter or Mercedes’ late-season rally.
Lewis Hamilton remains resolute about his decision to join Ferrari, valuing both his legacy with Mercedes and the new prospects ahead with the iconic Italian team.
