F1 2025 hasn’t gone as planned for Ferrari, who started the season with high hopes of clenching both championship titles. As of now, nine races in, this ambition is almost out of reach. Despite holding the second position in the Constructors’ Championship, their points tally is less than half of McLaren’s, with Charles Leclerc ranking fifth in the Drivers’ standings, trailing 92 points behind Oscar Piastri.
Critics’ eyes have turned toward Ferrari, with some questioning the stability of team principal Fred Vasseur’s position. Allegations arise that Vasseur lacks understanding of Ferrari’s internal workings. Furthermore, it’s speculated that Leclerc, a long-standing Ferrari figure, might be reconsidering his future with the team due to recent struggles.
The rumor mill went into overdrive with suggestions that Mercedes had a more technically advanced engine and that Lewis Hamilton might join Ferrari in the future. However, when these rumors were posed to Leclerc during a media session in Montreal, he appeared perplexed and clarified his unwavering loyalty to Ferrari. “I’m very surprised. I mean, I have no idea from where it’s coming from,” Leclerc stated, dismissing the claims outright.
Leclerc emphasized his dedication to Ferrari and his desire to propel the team back to victory. He highlighted the shared vision between himself, Vasseur, and Lewis to restore Ferrari’s glory. “We surely have a vision that we share, us three – Fred, Lewis, and myself – in order to try and get back to winning,” he asserted.
Acknowledging the disappointing performance thus far, Leclerc reassured that despite the team’s struggles, the goal remains to outdo competitors like McLaren. He noted McLaren’s significant advancements while affirming that Ferrari is pressuring itself to improve. “We are already putting ourselves under a lot of pressure. Then, of course, there are some talks that it’s not something that you want to hear. But the pressure is normal to have it,” he added.
Leclerc admits that the performance hasn’t been satisfactory but remains hopeful. He stresses that Ferrari’s aim is victory, and that the team is wholly committed to overcoming challenges and returning to success.
Leclerc remains committed to Ferrari, determined to bring the team back to prominence despite current challenges.
