McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension, marking a significant step for the team. Stella took over the role in 2023 and has since led McLaren back to regular podium finishes and race victories.
Under Stella’s leadership, the team has seen a remarkable rise, returning to race-winning form in 2024 and aiming for a World Championship, a feat not achieved since 2008.
Stella expressed his gratitude and excitement about the extension, stating, “It’s a privilege to be part of the McLaren Formula 1 team, and I am honored to continue in my role as team principal.” He noted the progress made and the thrilling challenge of consistently fighting at the front of the grid.
He also emphasized the importance of teamwork, saying, “Success comes through the team working in synergy. I am enjoying my role, which has allowed me to help unlock individual talent and empower people to work together towards our team’s objectives.”
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown was equally enthusiastic, highlighting Stella’s “excellent leadership, expertise and respect within the team and Formula 1.” Brown mentioned that this extension, along with those of drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, sets McLaren on a confident path toward their World Championship goal.
Currently, McLaren is closing in on Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing by just 42 points as they chase their first Constructors’ title since 1998.
With Stella at the helm, McLaren’s future looks bright and full of potential.
