Red Bull Racing has announced that Yuki Tsunoda will continue with the team for the 2025 season, marking his fifth year with them.
Yuki Tsunoda, who has been with Red Bull’s second team since 2021, has delivered his most impressive performances during the 2024 campaign. He has consistently finished in the top 10 and collected 19 of Red Bull’s 24 points so far. Recognizing his progress, the team has decided to activate a one-year extension option for the 2025 season.
Although a promotion to the main Red Bull team next season isn’t on the cards due to Sergio Perez’s multi-year deal, Tsunoda’s future with the team remains secure. Reacting to the news, Tsunoda expressed his happiness, saying, “I’m very happy to be staying with Visa Cash App RB and it’s a good feeling to have my future decided so early in the year. For that, I want to thank everyone at Red Bull and Honda who have played such an important role in my career and will continue to do so.”
Tsunoda is excited about the team’s upcoming development projects and appreciates the recognition of his hard work. He stated, “The team has a big development project ahead and I’m excited to be part of it. It’s great to know that everyone appreciates all the hard work I have put in and that the team believes I can help it move further up the grid.” For now, Tsunoda is focused on finishing the current season strong and laying the groundwork for an even better performance next year.
Laurent Mekies, Red Bull’s team principal, praised Tsunoda’s phenomenal improvement this season and emphasized the team’s growing understanding of his needs. “The step up he has made this year is simply phenomenal, and he keeps surprising us all, race after race. There’s no doubting his natural speed to which he has now added a much more mature approach and this combination makes him a very quick and consistent performer, and a great team player.” Mekies added that the shared ambitions between the team and Tsunoda provide several good reasons to continue their journey together.
Peter Bayer, Red Bull’s CEO, commended Tsunoda’s progress, attributing it to the efforts of the Red Bull and Honda Junior Driver programs. “As the saying goes, ‘never change a winning team’, so we are delighted to confirm Yuki as part of our future. He is a valuable asset on and off the race track, as his engaging nature has made him very popular with fans around the world. We are excited that he is staying with us.”
Red Bull now faces the task of determining the second half of their 2025 lineup. While Tsunoda’s current teammate Daniel Ricciardo is a candidate, others like Liam Lawson, Isack Hadjar, and Ayumu Iwasa are also contenders for the seat.
With Yuki Tsunoda secured for another year, Red Bull is looking forward to leveraging his skills and teamwork to push even further up the grid in 2025.
