After weeks of rumors, it’s official: Sergio Perez isn’t going anywhere. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner announced Perez’s future is secure, putting to rest a flurry of speculations. The goal is now to boost Perez’s confidence and get him back on the podium.
During the Belgian Grand Prix, Perez had a rough time—he started strong but couldn’t turn his front-row grid position into a podium finish, ending up behind teammate Max Verstappen. This marked the ninth race in a row without a podium for Perez, who currently sits in seventh place in the Drivers’ standings.
Perez is the only driver from the top teams—Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes—who hasn’t taken a win this season. Despite these struggles, Horner has his back. ‘Checo is a great team player, and he’s a massive team player, and that’s why he was selected,’ Horner said. ‘Everybody wants to see him succeed because it hurts seeing him in the situation that he is.’
Horner added that the team is 100% behind Perez and focused on understanding what he needs to turn things around. The goal is to have both cars performing at their best, just like at the beginning of the season.
Outperformed by McLaren in Belgium, Red Bull’s lead in the Constructors’ Championship has shrunk to just 42 points. With the pressure on, all eyes are on Sergio Perez and Red Bull to bounce back and reclaim their dominance.
All in all, Red Bull is firmly supporting Perez in hopes he’ll bounce back and perform at his best.
