Sky F1 has announced that Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 World Champion, will join their punditry team for the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.
Villeneuve, a former Williams and BAR driver, is no stranger to motorsport punditry and has previously appeared on Sky F1 during the 2012 Canadian Grand Prix. Known for his candid opinions, he has commentated for various channels including Canal+ in France and Sky Italia. His forthright views on Formula 1 always make headlines and he’s set to bring that same energy to Sky F1 this weekend.
The 53-year-old will feature on all of Sky F1’s race coverage, bringing his wealth of experience and insider knowledge to fans at his home circuit. Villeneuve has recently been vocal about the demanding Formula 1 calendar, particularly the challenges posed by late-season scheduling and globe-spanning triple-headers.
“That’s gonna be brutal,” he remarked earlier this year, highlighting the difficulties of scheduling and traveling that teams and media face, especially towards the end of the season. He pointed out how staff rotations and timezone differences make it challenging for everyone involved, from mechanics to media personnel.
Villeneuve’s addition to the Sky F1 team for the Canadian Grand Prix promises to provide fans with insightful and unfiltered commentary from a seasoned F1 veteran.
