McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown continues his verbal jabs at Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.

  • Brown claims Horner fails to take ownership and lacks transparency.
  • The war of words escalated after a recent incident at the Austrian Grand Prix.
  • Horner chose not to respond to Brown’s latest criticisms, maintaining a stance of silence.

In the latest development of their ongoing feud, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has once again taken aim at Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. Brown, who says he and Horner “used to get on,” has unleashed a series of accusations, claiming Horner offers nothing but “excuses and not taking ownership.”

Brown’s criticism centers on Red Bull’s minor breach of the 2021 cost cap. He states, “I believe in transparency. I believe in putting your hand up when you get something wrong. The cost cap, the excuses behind that, I never really heard a ‘we just got it wrong.’ I heard excuses and not taking ownership.”

Brown argues that such breaches damage the integrity of the sport and insists he’s speaking up to protect it. “When someone breaches the cost cap and doesn’t seem to take it seriously, that’s kind of hitting the integrity and core of the sport,” he explains. “It’s important people understand where we’re coming from.”

Illustrating his commitment to his values, Brown adds, “I realize that’s not necessarily always going to be popular, or make friends with everyone in the pit lane, but as long as I’m friends with McLaren, our fans, our partners, that’s what’s most important to me.”

The tension between the two escalated further after a collision between Red Bull’s World Championship leader Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Lando Norris at the Austrian Grand Prix. Brown perceived the incident as another example of Red Bull’s disrespect for the rules, but Horner chose not to engage. His response to Brown’s remarks was a simple, “I’m not going to dignify that with an answer.”

The ongoing tension between Zak Brown and Christian Horner shows no signs of abating, with both sides firmly entrenched in their positions.
